God is Working through your Generosity: Hope for Jane's Family
Meet Jane- a wife and mother of three children.
As we continue our Water and Hygiene work in Kenya, we are so thankful for your generous support of families like these. Today, Let me tell you about Jane's family, one of the families whom we connected to clean water just a few days ago.
Earlier this year Jane spent almost three months in the hospital, her blood pressure dangerously high, her vision blurred. She's now home, caring for her children, though her body hasn't fully recovered. Now the water is at her doorstep; this means that she can focus more on her full recovery instead of exhausting walks to fetch water.
As we visited with her, we noticed that her three children were suffering with jiggers, a parasite that causes pain, itching and infection.
Without clean water nearby, children can't bathe or wash their hands and feet each day. In those conditions, jiggers find easy ground, hands and feet get infected and the cycle is hard to break. But clean water fights it at the root cause; it gives the family a real chance to heal and stay free from the fleas that have already left their mark.
Right now they need basic hygiene supplies and closed shoes so the children can protect their feet and start healing. We are also connecting the family with experienced health organizations who provide proper jigger treatment and follow-up.
This is not just one family's story. Four other households nearby are carrying the same silent suffering.
